Drew Banks is a San Francisco–based novelist and retired tech entrepreneur. He holds an MBA from MIT and a certificate in creative writing from Oxford. His writing is shaped by a long-standing interest in psychological motivation, behavioral patterns, and the forces that shape individual lives. He has previously published books with Wiley and Jossey-Bass. 

 

While his earlier nonfiction examined organizational behavior and social psychology, Banks is drawn to fiction as a more intimate form that allows for deeper exploration of interiority, moral tension, and displacement. He is the author of The Elba Trilogy, which includes Able Was I, Ere I Saw Elba, and I Before E. Although each novel stands on its own, the trilogy is unified by a shared focus on exile, whether psychological, social, or geographic.
